When deputies with the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department took a man out of a homeless shelter in Huntington, West Virginia on August 5, the resulting arrest on the nearby street made headlines as Chief Deputy (and former sheriff) Chuck Zerkle grabbed a woman and threatened to arrest her for filming. Records from that office show the entire scene that Chief Deputy Zerkle tried to prevent from being recorded.
Aftert taking Noah Radermacher out of the homeless shelter, Deputy Matthew Newcome grabs the man (who is already handcuffed) by the neck with both hands and slams his face into the corner of a police cruiser.
Radermacher had been removed from Harmony House on suspicion of damaging a county vehicle. His booking photo from Western Regional Jail showed a large gash along his forehead from the incident.
Video from the Cabell County Sherrif’s Department shows deputies going into Harmony House (a homeless day shelter) and leaving with a man later identified as Noah Radermacher.
Another angle shows officers slamming Radermacher’s head into a cruiser door.
